This website is a collective effort by seven
Southern Indiana Animal Shelters to increase the number of adoptions and decrease the
euthanasia statistics in their communities. Good dogs and cats are dying because no
one knows they are there, and because people are hesitant to visit an animal shelter.
These animal shelters are city/county funded.* As a
result, all the animals pictured here have a limited time at the shelter. Depending
on the crowded conditions at each facility, each animal may only have 3 or more days
before it must be euthanized to make room for the constant flow of new animals.
PLEASE, if you see a pet on this website that touches your heart, don't wait. TIME
IS OF THE ESSENCE FOR THESE ANIMALS. Call the shelter or go visit the pet
immediately. Most of these dogs and cats are wonderful animals who were
just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Many are pets that were no longer wanted
by their owner for assorted reasons (some had good reasons; most didn't). Others
are non-tagged pets that were lost and never managed to find their way home. Still
others are strays who have never even had a dog house to call their own.
Many of the puppies and kittens are products of irresponsible pet owners who
should have spay/neutered their pets, but suddenly found themselves with litters that they
couldn't get rid of. Many times, the animals in these shelters pay the price for the
ignorance and irresponsibility of their human owners.
No dog with any known history of aggression will be pictured here. To the
best of our knowledge, all are candidates for being your "forever" friend,
loving and loyal. PLEASE CONSIDER ADOPTING A SHELTER PET - FOR THEIR SAKE AND FOR
YOURS! It will be a decision you won't regret.
